No 21 NEWSLETTER March 2007 I hope that you have had a wonderful holiday season and I wish you a prosperous and happy 2007!!! It is that time of the year to begin serious planning for the next Reunion and make some decisions regarding the Air Force Postal and Courier Association (AFPCA).
As I write my final Newsletter as President of Air Force Postal and Courier Association (AFPCA) I do so with many emotions. I want to thank everyone for their major support in making the job more than enjoyable. However, having said this it is time for someone else to take the wheel and steer the Association to a higher level. We have a great group of talented individuals to fill the void and make our Association as good as or better than we have enjoyed from 1989 to present. So PLEASE come to the next Reunion and make your voice heard and vote for the BEST person. We will have so much to vote on at our Business Meeting so please arrive early and see the sites so you will be ready for the Business Meeting. I know some times it is dull and boring but we don't want 20 people making the rules and voting for things that will effect over 300 members for the next two years or more if changes to the Bylaws are suggested.
Now for the our last Reunion in Washington DC - - - I would like to thank Marshall Fairchild, Pam and Bob Eichholz, Katie and Rebecca Quigley, Linda Lewis, and Raven Turner for the OUTSTANDING JOB they did for the GREAT REUNION we had in September 2006 at the Marriott Fairview Park Falls Church VA and the AMAZING TOURS they were able to get for the attendees. Also, the GREAT evening show at the Kennedy Center. The view from the top of the Kennedy Center at night is AWESOME!! The German Dinner prior to the show was GREAT!!!
I cannot find the words to THANK ALL who had a hand in the Reunion from the drivers to the tour guides to the planning committee to the OUTSTANDING STAFF and the willingness to give to the AFPCA Reunion attendees an OUTSTANDING REUNION.
I have received most favorable comments about the Reunion in Washington DC and would like to share just a couple:

This is just two of many we received. I know all who attended had a great time and I hope to see all at the next Reunion.
At our next Reunion, which will be held in South Dakota, we will discuss and try to make some changes. Among them are the dues. Since 1989 we have not increased the dues for fear of causing some members to drop out. However, the income does not equal the expenses and we are falling back to the RED LEVEL which is something we do not ever want to do. Therefore, we will be discussing an increase in dues and election of new Officers. A suggestion has been made to open membership to Postal and Courier personnel from other branches of the Service. This may bring in new members which we need at this time. Along with other items such as future sites for Reunions. And now for this REUNION - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
THE 2007 AFPCA REUNION WILL BE AT THE RADISSON HOTEL RAPID CITY SOUTH DAKOTA, SEPTEMBER 21, 2007 WITH DEPARTURE SEPTEMBER 24, 2007.
Once again we were able to obtain some very good rates. They agreed to a rate of $84.00 per night and this includes 2 day prior to the 21st and 2 days after the 24th September 2007 should you desire to arrive early and depart later than the period of our Reunion. Also, the room price includes a Continental Breakfast of Assortment of Breakfast Pastries, Fresh Fruit, Coffee, Tea and Juice on 9/21 – 9/23/07 in our Hospitality Room.
We have a block of 50 rooms so PLEASE make your reservations now and once again invite a son, daughter, brother, sister or a friend to see a beautiful area of the United States. For those who like to go to Las Vegas - the City of Deadwood has Casinos to keep your attention for a couple hours and it is a short drive away. As usual we will have a Tour and it will be to the Air and Space Museum close to Ellsworth AFB and than we will tour the Black Hills and Mount Rushmore with the lighting of Mt Rushmore and time for dinner on your own. The cost of the Tour, Banquet, and Farewell Breakfast on the 24th will be $80.00 for each person attending!! This will include soft drinks and maybe beer in the Hospitality Room. This is the same rate we had at past Reunions. The dinner menu will be Prime Rib or Chicken. This is our normal selection and I will need to know your and your guests choice as soon as possible.
So PLEASE make your reservations as soon as possible and send me the coupon at the end of this Newsletter ASAP!!!! REMEMBER AUGUST 15 2007 IS THE DEADLINE FOR YOU TO MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS WITH THE HOTEL AS 8/16/07 I WILL BE FORCED TO RELEASE THE NON-RESERVED ROOMS BACK TO THE HOTEL SO AFPCA WILL NOT BE CHARGED FOR THE NON-USED ROOMS!!!!! Also, the Radisson Hotel will try to make a room available to you should you not make the deadline however, the rack rate is $149.00 per night and I will not be able to get you our rates after AUGUST 15, 2007.
Each year I ask you to make the reservations early and I always get a call 5 to 7 days before the Reunion to get our rate and in the past they have worked with us but this will not be possible this year. My suggestion is to make your reservations and if something comes up like illness, Jury Duty, Doctor Appointments or whatever you should be able to cancel. We will have to pay the Tour Bus up front (About 2 weeks prior to the Reunion) so this is another REASON TO RESERVE EARLY to give the Bus Co. the number of Buses we will need. As usual you can contact me at (909)792-5424 after 6:00 PM and before 8:00 P M Pacific Time with any questions you might have that I may be able to help with. I really hope you all will get your reservations prior to June 1, 2007
